Chief Medical Informatics Officer
As Chief Medical Informatics Officer, Dr. Overhage leads Anthem’s efforts to improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of care its members receive. He practiced internal medicine for 25 years at Indiana University where he also led research focused on health information technology, including health information exchange, clinical decision support, and the use of observational data. He served as Director for Informatics at the Regenstreif Institute, founded and led the Indiana Health Information Exchange, and served as a principal investigator of the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) project. In 2011, Dr. Overhage transitioned to industry, serving as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for Siemens Healtheneers, and then Cerner where he was responsible for innovation, incorporating intelligence into products and population health platforms.
Dr. Overhage has been recognized as a Master of the American College of Physicians, elected to the National Academy of Medicine, Fellowship in the American College of Medical Informatics, and the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI), and has received numerous awards.
